Raise Your Mutual Fund Average

Do you own Mutual Funds?

Do you know all you should to maximize your profits?

I thought I did! - until I took WallStreet University’s “Making Money with Mutual Funds” e-Learning course!  Wow, was this an eye opener for me!

For example, do you know the answers to the following?

  1. Can a No Load fund charge 12b-1 Fees?  (Many would answer this with a “no”, but in reality, the correct answer is Yes - Some No Load funds may burden investors with 12b-1 fees which increase total expenses and are charged continuously.)
  2. What is an “Index Fund?
  3. Do you know what “Breakpoints” are, and how the sales charges for purchasing Mutual Funds may decrease?
  4. How do you evaluate funds, and fund manager’s performance, including understanding the various rating systems and services?
  5. How does asset allocation reduce risk in mutual funds, just as it can in stocks?

These and many, many more important aspects of mutual fund investing are revealed by Robin Thurston, Vice President and Global Director of Research for Lipper (a Reuters Company) in WallStreet University’s “Making Money with Mutual Funds” e-Learning course.

This is a “must have” for serious investors!

The Real Meaning of “Hold”

Do you use Analysts’ Rating when evaluating equities?

There are several different companies, and they all use different ratings methods?

I never really understood how different analysts’ rated securities, and what all the information really meant - until I took WallStreet University’s “Making Money with Analysts’ Equity Ratings” e-Learning course!  Now I understand what this means, why I should use analysts’ ratings, and how to apply it when evaluating my investment choices.

For example, do you know the answers to the following?

  1. An analyst rates a stock a “Strong Buy”.  Is it legal for the analyst to use “Insider Information” to arrive at his rating?  (Most would assume the answer is “no, but the correct answer is “Yes” - In a 1976 lawsuit, SEC vs. Dirks, the Supreme Court ruled that, under specific circumstances, an Analyst could act on insider information and selectively disclose it to their clients, potentially a significant advantage.)
  2. Different analysts look at the same company, and come up with different ratings?  How does this happen?
  3. How can conflicts of interest affect analysts’ ratings?
  4. How does an analyst choose a company to research?
  5. What is the role of comparison baselines in ratings?
  6. Do you know the impact of expected performance on ratings?

These and many, many more important aspects of investing in stocks are revealed by Stephen Biggar, Director of U.S. Equity Research for Standard & Poor’s in WallStreet University’s “Making Money with Analysts’ Equity Ratings” e-Learning course.

New Rules for the Stock Game

Do you own Stocks?

Most investors own stocks – do you know how to pick the right ones, and when you should sell them?

I thought I did – until I took WallStreet University’s “Making Money with Stocks” e-Learning course!  Was I ever shocked at how little I really knew about smart investing in stocks.  I learned there’s much more to know about buying and selling stocks than even the most astute investor knows!

For example, do you know the answers to the following?

  1. How do you read the basic charts?  What does all this information really mean, and why it is important to understand it.
  2. What is the difference between a large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap stock, and why is this important?
  3. Stocks are classified by Sector, and Industry.  Why is this important to know?
  4. Do you know your own “Personal Risk Tolerance”, and how this should help you select your investments?
  5. What do the terms “Fundamental” and “Technical” factors mean, and how are these used in determining what stock to buy, and when to sell them?
  6. Who are the companies who provide Research on stocks, and how can you use this research information to your advantage when evaluating stocks to buy and sell?

These and many, many more important aspects of investing in stocks are revealed by Stephen Biggar, Director of U.S. Equity Research for Standard & Poor’s in WallStreet University’s “Making Money with Stocks” e-Learning course.

You Need an Annuities Playbook

Do you own Annuities?

Do you know what Annuities are, how they work, and why you may want to own some?

I didn’t know a thing about Annuities - until I took WallStreet University’s “Making Money with Annuities” e-Learning course!  It was a real eye opener!  An Annuity can guarantee income for the rest of your life – is this an appropriate investment for you?

For example, do you know the answers to the following?

  1. Do you know there are two phases of an Annuity?  (The accumulation phase, and the payout phase!)
  2. Can you cash-in (surrender) your Annuity before the end of the contract and, if so, what are the fees for doing so?
  3. What is the difference between an Immediate Annuity, and a Deferred Annuity, and which might be best for you?
  4. Do you know the difference between a Fixed Annuity and a Variable Annuity, and the advantages and disadvantages of each?
  5. What are the risks, and benefits, of Annuities?
  6. How can Annuities help you avoid Probate?

These and many, many more important aspects of investing in Annuities are revealed by Steven N. Weisbart, Ph.D., CLU, Vice President and Economist, Insurance Information Institute in WallStreet University’s “Making Money with Annuities” e-Learning course

Your Future is The 401(k) Game

Do you participate in a 401(k) Plan?

When’s the last time your reviewed your asset allocation?

I never knew it was important to really “understand” how my 401(k) works, and why I should review my plan on a regular basis, until I took WallStreet University’s “Managing Your 401(k)” course. I’ll look at my 401(k) a lot differently now.

Most 401(k) participants get some basic 401(k) training by the 401(k) Plan Administrator when they sign up during an open enrollment period.  They typically select their asset allocation, based on a risk analysis that may be done at the time, and then never look at their 401(k) plan again until they leave the company, or retire.  They can be losing thousands of dollars in their retirement nest egg if they don’t “manage” their 401(k) plan.

Do you know the answers to the following?

  1. How do you match your asset allocation to your personal risk profile?
  2. Are you taking full advantage of your “employer match” funds?  What is the maximum “match” amount?
  3. Are you aware that you “can” borrow from your 401(k) program under certain circumstances, but why this should be an absolute last resort in an emergency?
  4. What options do you have for your 401(k) plan when you leave your company?
  5. Is too much of your 401(k) invested in your company stock?  Remember Enron?  The general consensus among financial experts is that an adequately diversified portfolio should have no more than 10% to 20% of total investment assets in company stock.

These and many, many more important aspects of managing your 401(k) program are revealed by Don Cassidy, Founder and President of the Retirement Investing Institute in WallStreet University’s “Managing Your (401(k)” e-Learning course.

We empower the individual investor and entrepreneurial business executive. Education is the most effective tool to help you take control of your profitability. Now you have the opportunity to increase your investment knowledge and develop the best strategic planning discipline to make more money and save time.

Why Investor Education?

In a survey entitled “NASD Investor Literacy Research” only 35% of investors scored 70% on the National Association of Securities Dealers (now FINRA) basic market knowledge questions.

Only 40% understood the crucial relationship between bond prices and interest rates, while only 21% identified the definition of a “no load” mutual fund.

Amazingly, only 38% of investors understood they were not insured against losses in the stock market.

Obviously, the majority of us need to know a lot more about how we’re investing our money. How can we get the best results if we don’t have the best knowledge.
