Robin J. Thurston

Formerly the V.P. and Global Director of Research for Lipper

Before re-joining Lipper in 2001, Robin was manager of portfolio research & competitive analysis at American Century Investments in Kansas City. He was an analyst at Lipper from 1995-1999, co-developing Lipper’s portfolio-based equity fund classification system. After re-joining Lipper in 2001 as US Director of Research he launched the Lipper Leaders fund evaluation system and developed and launched Active Indices. Robin has a Masters in Finance from the University of Colorado and a BS in Finance from Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Lipper, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reuters, is a leading global provider of mutual fund and hedge fund information and analysis to asset management companies, financial intermediaries, and media organizations. Lipper clients manage more than 95% of U.S. fund assets. The firm, founded in 1973 and headquartered in New York, tracks 130,000 funds worldwide through its offices in major financial capitals in North America, Europe, and Asia.

 

Steven N. Weisbart

Economist at the Insurance Information Institute.

Before joining the I.I.I. in 2005, Steve worked for nearly 27 years at Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association - College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF), the financial services company whose major products are annuities for colleges and universities and their employees. At TIAA-CREF, Steve spent most of his time managing a division that created and produced explanatory and informational materials about anuities, insurance, retirement, and related topics. Before TIAA-CREF, Steve was Associate Professor of Insurance and Risk Management at the College of Business Administration, Georgia State University. Steve has a Ph.D. in Business and Applied Economics and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an A.B. in English from Cornell University. He also holds the CLU professional designation.

The Insurance Information Institute is an independent nonprofit organization supported by member insurance companies. It does no lobbying or advertising, but is the leading provider of information on insurance and related topics for the media, regulators and legislators, member companies, researchers, and individuals.

 

 
Stephen Biggar  

In this role he manages the day-to-day research process of S&P’s 65 equity research analysts in the U.S.

Prior to this position, Mr. Biggar was Director of Financial Institutions Research and principal bank equity analyst for Standard & Poor’s, covering major regional and money center banks. He has been widely quoted on banking related matters by publications such as American Banker, Forbes and Money Magazine, news services including Bloomberg and Reuters, and has appeared on CNN/FN and CNBC. Prior to joining S&P, Mr. Biggar covered financial services equities at Argus Research Corp.

Stephen Biggar holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Rutgers University, and holds Series 7 and 16 licenses. He is a member of S&P’s Investment Policy Committee and S&P’s Senior Portfolio Group.
